Fragmented Spectrum- Ch. 10

Chapter ten. Kamek had butterflies in his stomach. The reconnaissance team had quickly realized that radios didn’t work in an area so full of shadows—after all, radio is just a lower frequency of light, and light was severely lacking there, even on the outskirts of the area—and had resorted to using makeshift magical talismans to keep contact with Kamek and the others. Unfortunately, with the magical field as backed up as it was, they could only send seconds-long messages every now and then, else they’d risk breaking the talismans and losing contact with Kamek entirely. The long stretches of silence drove Kamek nuts.

An Evil a Day- 1-5

001. Beginnings. Fawful sat on a rock in a field. It was a relatively featureless plain, surrounded on all sides by the oddly cylindrical hills that were so common in the Mushroom Kingdom, and the only things of interest were the occasional bump in the ground and a few rocks. A goomba stood on the ground near the rock, and he and Fawful had been conversing for a while. The goomba hadn't bothered to tell Fawful his name and Fawful didn't care enough to ask. "So how did you come to work for Cackletta, anyway?" the Goomba asked. Fawful shrugged. "My memory is not entirely with clarity. I was but a small child when I first had the joining

Love Marmots

The Middel Skool was a couple of blocks down from the Skool that Gaz had attended some years prior, situated between the city’s poorly-maintained “lib ary” and a poodle refinery. Gaz wasn’t sure what they did to the poodles to refine them, and she wasn’t sure she wanted to know. The years hadn’t changed much of anything. Puberty had been a glancing blow for her, bestowing upon her only some extra height, barely noticeable breasts and all the headaches of womanhood. Dib was worse off—he now had an hours-long nightly regimen in place where he would wash his face with medicated lotion after medicated soap, t

Under Everything- Chapter 1

Chapter one: The chapter in which Fawful is receiving an unexpected visitor. The sewers beneath Princess Peach's castle were a dank, quiet place. Few wandered in or out of the place, and for good reason. It was dark, it was spooky, and it reeked suspiciously of crud vapors. Deep within the cavernous pipes, however, one lone soul had cleaned out the muck, sprayed gallons of air freshener, and made his home. In fact, he had made more than just his home—he had put together a store, a shrine, even, dedicated to badges and beans. Jars of beans were stacked all about, bean-shaped decorations adorned the walls and counters, and bean-shaped lamps

Until Tomorrow- Chapter 1

Chapter one: Ahead on our way Darkness hung over the lair of Cackletta and Fawful, a decrepit old mansion hidden away in the outskirts of the Beanbean Kingdom. The moon shone in all its full-phased glory, but it seemed as though none of that light reached the house. Some would say that it was because of all of the tall trees shielding the place from the rays of cosmic light sources, but the one lone inhabitant of the house would insist that, rather, the darkness was caused by the overwhelming gloom that had come over it. The lair was quiet now, a stark contrast to how it had once been. Once a place noisy with the sounds of experimental sp

On my own- Chapter 1

Chapter one: The chapter in where Cackletta is being no where to be found. Fawful hit the water with a splash. He thrashed and swam and tried to stay afloat, but he sank like a thing weighted down by many heavy things. He watched the surface fall away from him as he continued to flounder around fruitlessly. A small school of fish scattered and separated as they passed by his fumbling form, and he suddenly remembered that he had various gadgets of a mechanical nature on his person that were probably weighing him down. Feeling stupid for not having realized this immediately, he set about pulling every last little machine out of all of the hid

Fanfiction essay of death

Fanfiction: How Not to Suck Written by Sara Pike Introduction It’s a funny thing, fanfiction. It’s both the light of my life and the bane of my existence. On one hand, it’s the best way I know to relieve my fangirlish frustrations with certain fandoms, clear out my creative pores and have some fun writing. On the other hand, the online writing scene is filled with the most horrible shit ever written and fanfiction makes it all the worse—it’s one thing to see some characters you don’t know acting stupid; it’s something else to see your hero acting stupid. So after seven long, tortuous years in the throe
