I think I may have gone off the deep end with the obscurity of this one, so here's the relevant Wiki article.
I miss my old Mario comics... I wonder whatever happened to that compilation book I had...?

Scratch that. I DID hear about Stanley the talking fish! The wiki article described an episode of the Mario 3 comic about getting berries for the Princess's cereal. I remember that comic! That's one of the only Mario 3 comics I got to read! Mario and Luigi were about to go bowling for pasta, but Toadstool asked them to go out and get rare berries for her cereal. The dumb Toad was pouring milk on the cereal before the Mario brothers even changed out of their bowling t-shirts and into Frog Suits, and "Hurry up before the flakes get too soggy" was being said. Then when the got to World 3 Stanley The Talking Fish was there! And then when the Mario brothers got back The Princess didn't even want the berries any more! She was so tired of being hungry that she ate their meatball bowling balls and was SO stuffed! She looked sick! She should have been too, eating that much beef... And pork if it was mixed in the meatballs.

I KNEW that fish's name sounded familiar! I had never actually heard of Stanley the talking fish... but I saw the words "Mario comics", and thought about a character in the Nintendo Power ones named Stanley... and I think it was Stanley the talking something. Then again, I may be thinking of something else, but that name, I swear it rung a bell... Even if it was the wrong bell...
